When the Physical Falls Away

Perhaps we have misunderstood what it means to grow weaker.

We look at the aging body and see deterioration. We see what time has taken, what illness has changed, what can no longer be restored.

But what if we are only witnessing one side of the transformation?

A caterpillar does not remain a caterpillar forever.

It enters a chrysalis, undergoes an extraordinary transformation, and eventually emerges with wings.

What once sheltered it is no longer needed.

Perhaps the human experience holds a similar mystery.

What if the body is not the final expression of who we are, but the temporary form through which the soul becomes what it was always meant to be?

Every love. Every loss. Every battle. Every moment of joy and suffering.

Not wasted.

Not forgotten.

But carried into something greater.

Perhaps the soul does not grow weaker alongside the body.

Perhaps it grows stronger.

Perhaps what we call the end is simply the moment when the physical can no longer contain what the spirit has become.

And when that moment arrives, perhaps the body has not failed us at all.

Perhaps it has fulfilled its purpose.

It falls away, like a cocoon left behind when a butterfly finally finds its wings.

And the soul flies.
